Creating Cultural Swag In Our Youth

Purpose

November 2, 2010

It’s something that’s natural as the morning dew.  Purpose is a process that takes time to become realized in one’s life.  However, when realized it’s as sweet as My Auntie Sherry’s Grape Kool -aid may she rest in peace.  Speaking of relatives, that’s another way to explain purpose.  It feels like always being around the fun auntie of the family.  You love everyting about her from her house, her kids, her car, clothes, kool-aid, shoes, and everything else.  Even when the favorite aunt yells or screams, you still would’nt miss a sleep over at her house for the world.  My aunt Sherrie could perform majic on us back in the 8o’s.  She created a safe place of fun, adventure, and creativity.  I’m sure she had many problems in her life, but her enthusiam, energy, and love made her available for life.  She faced lots of hardship, pain, and suffering, but like her talent for fashion, she wore it well!  My dad nicknamed her disco probably because she loved to celebrate and party all the time like Eddie Murphy’s song.  I learned many lessons from my aunt Sherri.  Lessons that I’m just now getting at thiry four.  My aunt was murdered mysteriously about 8 years ago, at a very young age.  I cried, and mourned over her at the funeral, and I still think about her energy today.  Purpose is a permanent feeling of gratitude, thanksgiving , and appreciation for life.  When you have purpose the moments in your life are precious like sapphire, rubys, and your favorite family memory.  You have focus everywhere you go.  People are not objects anymore, they have value, meaning and relevance to everything that you do.  Everybody is community when you have a purpose.  You are connected with life, and you walk with poise, confidence, and determination to heal the world and make it a better place before your final resting place.
