Crisis the Unkown Gift
October 2, 2010
Whatever we face in life, there is a huge lesson to be learned from it, if were available for it. Also, it’s our ability and skill to be able to articulate the pain, frustration, and sadness of our crisis into a gift, lesson, our opportunity for growth, and development, now that’s magic. For example, My program in Compton needed approval from the board of education to allow me income and access to transform lives with the Make It Move program. I was asked to be at the board meeting as a participant, only to wait at that meeting for two hours to hear the board say no! We don’t know you or your program, we need mor info, the program is off until the next meeting in two weeks. Devastation, dillusion, blame, and embarrassment kicked me like a mule. I drove home soaking in wow! I can’t believe that it didnt happen. Now, I’m ready to blame..looking for other people to be responsible for my game. I wanted to make the person wrong who I thought was supossed to let the board know about me and advocate for me. However, I called my coach and got clear on how I put someone in a position in my game where they had no chance to win or produce results on the field. When I reflect on my games, I was in the bleachers hoping for a miracle, not executing my vision of excellence, greatness, and confidence. I played very small and when you play small it’s easy to play the blame game. The impact of playing small in this situation; no compensation to support my family, and no program in place to transform lives, contribute, and make a difference. The gift, opportunity in all this is inspire, delegate, lead others around you to play your game all out. Investigate, inquire, desire to get the scouting report, and the history, the films, and all the details to happen before the game starts. Really be prepared.. really do the homework..
peace!
