Attention
October 26, 2010
Attention is a fabulous word. People tell us to pay attention all of the time. I’ve realized that attention is the same as interest. People only have trouble paying attention to stuff that’s not interesting in their world. I’m a perfect example, when it’s time to socialize, mingle, interact, network, and talk, I’m interested so I pay full attention. However, when it’s time to settle down and write a proposal, a speech, or organize my schedule for the week. I lose attention, focus, and concentration because I’m not interested. Attention is a deliberate process that we have to work on especially in the areas that aren’t easy for us. Especially in the areas that seem to lose our interest or attention, etc… I know that I continue to tell myself that I’m easily distracted, but it’s only in situations that I’ve told myself that I’m not interested in. I’m declaring that I will intentionally pay attention in areas that have been a struggle for me, and I will be interested in other aspects of life because it will nurture my development.
